Sam Vanoverschelde is a director and photographer that started his career in the VJ and live AV scene with the Visual Kitchen collective that also produced numerous music videos (Das Pop, Marc Moulin, Ultrasonic, Funkstörung, a.o.)

Playing the underground scene as well as the established events like 10DaysOff, MTV or TMF-parties, Pukkelpop and Dourfestival, Visual Kitchen also explored the experimental classical music world transforming musical scores from the likes of Xenakis, Stockhausen, Berio or Feldman into imagery at numerous festivals like Holland Festival, Festival van Vlaanderen, November Music or HCMF. Next to the creative work at Visual Kitchen, he took part in producing the Cimatics festival, presenting the up and coming AV and digital arts scene to the Brussels public. In 2008, Sam teamed up with the American director Davis Freeman for the creations with his company Random Scream, and they’ve been regularly working together ever since. Being born in the region of the former WW1 battlefields and carrying a family history going back to that time, he collaborated on the commemorations Lichtfront and Woordfront and set up personal projects exploring history as a research base for his photography.

Oh, and he can spin some nice tunes as well…
