The 8th edition of the International Documentary Festival DOCVILLE takes place between April 27th and May 5th 2012. For nine days straight Leuven will be the epicenter of documentary film.

 

LEUVEN - The 8th edition of the International Documentary Festival DOCVILLE takes place between April 27th and May 5th 2012. For nine days straight Leuven will be the epicenter of documentary film.

The festival’s various locations are Kunstencentrum STUK, Cinema ZED, Kinepolis, Museum M and 30cc/Wagehuys.

The comprehensive and vibrant program contains around 70 new films, the majority of which will have their premiere in Leuven. DOCVILLE focuses on documentary author’s cinema, films made by directors with a strong vision, but also on solid stories, freshness, originality and new trends in the genre.

DOCVILLE highlights the year’s best documentaries. Its jury awards prizes in the international competition and the segment ConScience as well as in the national competition. The series new releases zeroes in on the festival circuit’s biggest revelations. But there is much more. The festival also presents themed series such as Films at the Museum and Urbanise. Dozens of national and international films will have their premiere at DOCVILLE.

Many directors and producers are at hand to introduce their own work to the audience. DOCVILLE is not only about sitting back and watching great documentaries, it also aims to bring people together and offer stimulating debates, discussions and information sessions.

SPECIAL GUEST: LOUIS THEROUX

British documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux is coming for Docville, he'll be introducing and Q-A-ing his newest doc Twilight of the Pornstar (May, 3rd at 20:30) and will be giving a master class the day after, (May 4th, 10:30). His three latest docs will be shown during the festival.
