Adams Mensah is a Ghanian-Belgian multidisciplinary artist.
He holds an MA in visual arts from Sint Lucas Antwerp. As a filmmaker, theatre maker, producer, and actor, he moves with his own voice and story within the broader (international) art landscape. He is the author of his own film and theatre work, but he also contributes to the work of others in various roles.
His work starts from an autobiographical perspective and brings forward lived stories in which different questions and reflections arise. He addresses topics such as migration, North–South relations, religion/spirituality, bicultural roots, parent–child relationships, family, and bureaucracy. He also engages with others about hopes and dreams in different languages.
Over the years, a common thread has become visible in his work: a focus on social care and involvement, adding missing voices, and telling new stories. He has several films to his credit, including the documentaries Me a Belgian, My Mother a Ghanaian and Ghana For You, which were screened at national and international film festivals. Ghana For You was also broadcast on Canvas.
