Idelies Philips is a Belgian sexologist and gender historian.

In addition to her Master’s degree in sexology and her training as an autism coach, she continues to undertake further professional development. She is affiliated with Leuven Autism Research (LAuRes), where she conducts research into the experiences of autistic mums in order to better tailor care to their needs.

As a mother of children with ADHD and autism, she knows how important it is to find peace in a world that can sometimes be overwhelming. I experience first-hand every day how neurodiversity plays a role at different stages of life, and that makes my approach not only theoretically grounded, but also based on personal experience and empathy. Her approach is based on a blend of academic knowledge, science, creativity and experience.

Idelies is writing a book about men hoping to become fathers, for which she is conducting in-depth interviews with, amongst others, psychologists, policymakers and, of course, these men themselves. Idelies wants to give them a voice, addressing their struggles, IVF, ICSI and the ins and outs of fertility treatments. She does not shy away from the pain, grief and taboos either.
