Nahid Shaikh (Brussels, 1978) is a Belgian documentary filmmaker and reporter.
She studied at KULeuven, where she obtained a Master's degree in Classics and Italian.
After a period at the BBC, she joined CANVAS. There she worked with Rudi Vranckx on Bonjour Congo and Phara de Aguirre. For her series Amazons, Shaikh teamed up with De Aguirre to find women who take up arms.
With Isabelle Boutriaux, she created Changemakers, a series about people who try to change the world by radically changing their attitudes.
In 2019, the tandem of Shaikh and Aguirre created the three-part canvas series BLANCO. The duo travelled across Belgium in search of compatriots who no longer vote.
In 2009, together with Kat Steppe, they made Bedankt & Merci, a feature-length documentary about five Flemish folk pubs in the Westhoek region.
For the 4 X 7 series, she directed 'La facture', a short portrait of her Pakistani father, who left his country at the age of 17. This portrait is the basis for a feature-length documentary she is working on in 2019.
