Noah Matanga Buaki is a Congolese artist and filmmaker living in Belgium.
He trained at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa. With the Tosala collective, he coordinated various local festivals, including ‘Kinshasa Bala bala matolo’, to showcase local talent. Among other things, he led woodworking and furniture design workshops where young people living on the streets are taught traditional craft skills.
Together with the producer duo Nizar and Paul, he contributed to the sound and editing of the scientific and artistic project HOME (Human Remains Origins Multidisciplinary Evaluation), which was developed around the theme of human remains, their conservation and repatriation, in collaboration with the Africa Museum in Tervuren, the Waza Art Centre and the Collectif Faire-Part.
His career also includes collaborations and exchanges with various cultural and institutional partners, including the Goethe-Institut in Kinshasa, the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, the non-profit organisation VAKOUM and SEKTOR DESIGN. These collaborations enable him to develop projects at the intersection of contemporary creation, cultural transmission and dialogue between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Europe.
