BRUSSELS - From 20 January to 1 March 2020 you can visit the exhibition 'Nieuwe gezichten - Documentairefotografie uit Vlaanderen en Nederland' (Documentary photography from Flanders and the Netherlands) in CC Ter Dilft in Bornem. With this exhibition, Journalismfund.eu wants to highlight the work of mainly young photojournalists from Flanders and the Netherlands.
Participating photographers are Heleen Peeters, Jefrim Rothuizen, Jimmy Kets, Joris Casaer, Patrick Kenawy, Stef Peters, Francesca Warley, Victoria Ushkanova, Stefaan Temmerman, Peter Dekrom and Fred Debrock.
The exhibition is curated by Sanne Schim van der Loeff. She is exhibition manager and curator at World Press Photo since 2016, which organizes the world's largest and most prestigious photography competition. She focuses primarily on curation and is responsible, among other things, for the flagship exhibition in De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. In addition, she regularly gives presentations on press photography, ethics and visual literacy.
“For this exhibition, I hoped to be able to put together a selection of photographers who have not been in the profession for very long and who are still working hard, but who have a large dose of talent. The final selection shows the interfaces between press photography, documentary photography and all the different styles that can exist together under the visual journalism banner. Visual journalists all tell stories in their own way, with their own approach. This exhibition hopes to show that there is enormous variation in photography, and this is only growing.” Sanne Schim van der Loeff, curator
