BRUSSELS - Today, plastics are everywhere. Metres deep on the seabed in the Mariana Trench. At the top of Mont Blanc. At the North Pole. In your blood.

More than half of all plastics in circulation today were produced since 2003. In 2015 alone, almost 400 million ton of plastics was produced worldwide. That is about the weight of two-thirds of the world's population. All these plastics have a major impact on the environment, our health and the climate, but that impact has not yet been fully mapped out.
How far are we from circular plastics today? In a circular economy, raw materials continue to circle endlessly and waste does not exist. How future-proof is the way in which we as a society currently deal with plastics? In two episodes, journalist Isabelle Vanhoutte talks to experts from the field and from academia. In search of the missing links between plastics and circular economy.
