Camille Ghekiere is a Brussels-based documentary filmmaker.

When Camille was just beginning her studies in History, she quietly dreamed of making documentaries. But, as is the case with dreams of a creative profession, she dared not think about it becoming a reality. After college, she went to film school, where she started with cinematography and switched to directing in her senior year.

That year she made her first film, with four young immigrants. The short film became a minor success. Several national and international festival selections and awards, a Wildcard budget from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund and accompanying interviews and screenings gave her the professional exposure she needed. In two years, she worked with and learned from experienced and talented people in the Flemish documentary field and received funding for three new documentary projects (all of which are now between pre- and post-production). Thanks to these projects, she discovered the layers of documentary filmmaking and found her personal signature.
