Hilde De Windt is a Belgian journalist and photographer.

The interaction between different media, between still images and video, between purely documentary and poetic views of reality. That has been the fascination of journalist and photographer Hilde De Windt for years.

As a journalist she works for the Belgian broadcaster VRT research unit. People are central in her work, people in their time, in their context, whether they are happy or not.
She also takes this interest in her documentary photographic work. In her free work, all those emotions are cooked together in (almost theatrical) abstract works.

For 'A woman's life' she took on the challenge of making a visual story from a podcast about Chantal De Smet. A visual story of reflections on commitment, history, the women's movement, love and life in all its forms. A visual story of a three-day meeting between three generations of women. A making of, while at the same time that too is life itself.

A woman's life

BRUSSELS - On the occasion of International Women's Day on 8 March, three generations of women spend three days together. Twentysomething Cosima Bas and her mother Anna Luyten dig into the life wisdom of the oldest. This is Chantal De Smet (76), a striking figure of the second feminist wave in Belgium. VRT journalist Hilde De Windt photographs and films.
