Jeroen Janssen (°1963) is a Belgian illustrator.

He studied printmaking at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Ghent. He made his first comics in Rwanda, where he taught at the art school of Nyundo.

For his debut Muzungu, which he drew shortly before and after the 1994 genocide, Janssen was awarded the prize at the Haarlem festival in 1998. He also publishes albums and short stories in Zone 5300 (NL) and XXI (F). Together with Pieter van Oudheusden, Janssen made The Revenge of Bakamé, a large Rwandan animal fable. In October 2013 his graphic novel Doel appeared, a fist-drawn reportage about an endangered polder village.

In 2018 Jeroen Janssen won the Bronze Adhemar, the most important award for a comic book author in Flanders.

Ledeberg has a long history. In the Middle Ages, in the shadow of the city walls of Ghent, two rural settlements arose along the roads to Brussels and Geraardsbergen. Between 1860 and 1870, in the context of the industrial revolution, Ledeberg became one of the fastest growing suburbs of Ghent. Cotton factories, a brickworks and several shipbuilding yards sprang up along the banks of the Scheldt. Straight streets were laid out, connected by countless narrow alleys, in order to build as many small and cheap workers' dwellings as possible.
