Jelle De Mey (°1981) was na zijn studies Moderne Geschiedenis (KU Leuven) en de masterclass journalistiek (Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel) al even freelance journalist.

Hierna werkte hij lang als communicatiemedewerker bij Greenpeace, ook internationaal. Na het postgraduaat Internationale Researchjournalistiek (IRJ) in 2023 besliste hij om opnieuw te gaan freelancen.

Hij schreef al voor Knack en Apache, doet ook eindredactie. Milieu loopt als een rode draad door zijn werk.
