The Marilo Fund is awarding a € 5,000 grant to a journalist.

Through this award, the Fund wishes to contribute to financing an article, a series of articles, a radio or TV report, whose objective is to help improve understanding in Belgium of Japanese society and entrepreneurship.


A formal undertaking must be given to publish or broadcast the resulting article or report.

The aim of the Marilo Fund is to favour commercial relations between Belgium and Japan, in close collaboration with the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce, by encouraging active professional and entrepreneurial communication regarding Japan. The prizewinner undertakes to disseminate the results of his or her research within the framework of the Marilo Fund among Belgian entrepreneurs and to do this in collaboration with the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce. More specifically, this could be done through a seminar or study day (in English).

Applications files can be filled in here. Please note that candidates could be invited to present their project to the Steering committee of the Fund in the first half of May 2012. The exact date will be communicated later.

Target group
o Journalists working in Belgium.
o Ideally, journalists working within a broad economic framework;
o with active and in-depth knowledge of English or Japanese;
o who are willing to undertake a short stay in Japan within the framework of the award.

Selection criteria

o This call concerns a specific initiative aimed at improving understanding of Japanese society among Belgian entrepreneurs.
o The project is achievable. It has been sufficiently prepared and refined (the objectives, target group(s), means and planning have been set out in detail).
o The results of this project can inspire Belgian entrepreneurs in the development of initiatives in collaboration with the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce.How can you do it concretely ? What is the specific contribution of the project ? Please make it clear in the application file.

In order to be considered, the proposed project must significantly meet the specified criteria. Please take great care, therefore, in setting out your proposal to show clearly how your particular project meets these criteria.

 

Criteria for admission of the proposal:

- The application form:
o must be filled out in the same language as the application form itself;
o must be completely filled out;
o must be submitted within the allotted time (by 23/04/2012 at the very latest).

- The project initiator must be:
o Belgian or an EU citizen;
o professionally linked to a Belgian media company and/or product.
