IHECS Academy launches the first long-term investigative reporting program in French-speaking Belgium

This is the first program of its kind in francophone Belgium. Organised from April 2014 until end of September, the training is composed of 26 modules of 3h (some of 4h) taking place on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. The whole certifying program costs 385 EUR.

The participants will learn about investigative techniques including how to document, plan and organise their investigations with Mark Lee Hunter, adjunct professor at INSEAD and author of the manual "Story-based inquiry" used in the best investigative journalism programs.

The participants will deconstruct step by step the investigations done by experienced journalists about politics, the environment, immigration, sercret services, etc. They will be taught about data journalism (with Joël Matriche from Le Soir) and online security and encryption (with Quentin Noirfalisse, coauthor of the webdoc "Geek Politics"). They will learn about funding and transnational collaborations with Camille Descamps, PhD candidate at EJL/UCL.

The participants will be coached by renowned reporters such as Frédéric Loore (Paris Match), Patrick Remacle (RTBF), Marc Vannesse (ULg), David Leloup (M... Belgique, previously Marianne Belgique), Kristof Clerix (MO*), Damien Spleeters (Apache) and Jean-Pierre De Staercke (L'Avenir and M... Belgique).

At the end of the program, every participant will have finished his investigative reporting project, which will be ready for publication or broadcasting.
